Light, delicate and thirst quenching yet richly satisfying
Muntons Gold Continental Pilsner epitomises the full character of European lager style ales delicate and light, yet richly satisfying.
This ale preserves the delicate harmony of natural hop bitterness with the sweet taste of malt and is best-served chilled at about 5°C or 41°F.
Makes 40 Pints
For many years now generations ago in fact it was ascertained that the way to make the best ales and beers was to use only water, hops, malt and yeast in the fermenting stage.
In the 1400's in Germany, this process was taken a stage further with the inception of the Reinheitsgebot this is a law forbidding the use of any constituent in the fermenting process other the aforementioned raw ingredients.
This law was still valid until quite recently. However, the EEC over-ruled the Reinheitsgebot. It adviced that the old ruling would be a barrier to free-trade throughout Europe!
Even so, the breweries have denied changing their method of working and still brew using only the four essential components their customers would not be contented with anything else, as they continue to inform us.
Traditional English beers were brewed originally without hops but taste altered once hops from Europe were imported keeping the beer fresh for a more extended period. Ale drinkers imperceptibly cultivated a taste for the new hopped beers, and in the 15th Century, the modernised tasting English beer was borne.
In recent times, economic pressure has compelled many breweries to propose using low-cost adjuncts into the fermenting process. Purists will content however that the ale quality has deteriorated because of this and that it is far better to remain using the traditional practices. Muntons agree, which is why the Gold Range was developed, a range designed merely to make great Ale.
Muntons as a commercial maltster purveying brews throughout the world are in an excellent position to acknowledge the quality and styles of malt needed to make the best ales. Muntons have put their knowledge to excellent use and formulated what they perceive to be the number one beer kits available at this present time with a conceivable reservation of Muntons Premium Gold!
Produced using only hops, malt, water and yeast, balanced to brew excellent beers, modelled on the choicest tradition of brewers art. Cheers!
