White wine is a type which splits into subcategories such as dry, sweet, light bodied, full-bodied and sparkling.
Sparkling wine (Cava, Champagne, Lambrusco, Prosecco) is carbonated by yeast fermentation in an airtight container. Sparkling wine which is produced throughout the world, mostly follows the same winemaking techniques as champagne.
Light bodied wines (Albarino, Gruner Veltliner, Muscadet, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Soave, Vermentino) are meant to be enjoyed young when their fruity taste and the dry and refreshing tart flavours are at their best.
Full Bodied white wines (Chardonnay, Marsanne Blend, Semillon, Viognier) have rich, bold flavours. These wines age well.
Aromatic White Wine (Chenin Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Muscat Blanc, Riesling) is as the term suggests, highly perfumed and range from a sweet white wine to a dry white wine.
They are well matched with both Asian and Indian meals due to the sweet and sour flavours.
Brew Mart is often asked 'how to you choose the best white wine?' Choosing the best white wine is very personal and also depends if the wine is drunk together with a meal and the contents of the meal. The best white wine is the one which suits your taste.
