Spain's Rioja Valley produces excellent red wines, including Rojo Tinto, which contains about a dozen different grapes and ages exceptionally well.
The blend of grapes used can be Garnache (Grenache) and Tempranillo (Cencibel).
The Garnache gives colour and power to the wine, while the Tempranillo imparts fragrance and finesse.
The wine is then treated with oak chippings, or even better it is stored in an oak barrel to give the characteristic Rojo Tinto oakness.
Foods which Rojo Tinto compliments are Paella, red meat and bean dishes.
