Nebbiolo is a red wine which originates from the region of Piedmont in the mountainous area of northern Italy. This area is also known for the very famous Barolo and Barbaresco wine which is also made with the Nebbiolo grape.
These wines sell for many hundreds of pounds. What many people do not realise is the Barolo, and Barbaresco wine gets its name just because the Nebbiolo grape wine grows in a few specific villages in the region.
However, Nebbiolo grows throughout that area not only in those few villages and the locals say that the wine Nebbiolo is delicious and is the best kept secret and is their wine of choice for local celebrations.
The wine smells of roses which is a beautiful aspect of Nebbiolo, and it is perfect for the decanter.
The Nebbiolo wine has a significant amount of acidity, mouth-drying tannins and earthy flavours that pairs well with all types of food. While Barolo and Barbaresco may be the wine of royalty, with the cost to prove it, Nebbiolo’s the wine for the most of us.
As the locals in Piedmont say, “Nebbiolo’s our little secret here.” And now it’s yours too.
Brew Mart's secret is that Beaverdale produce both a 6 bottle and 30 bottle nebbiolo kit.
